| ARTIST BIO |
| Carolyn Gabb's
identification as artist is shaped both by family roots, and professional
experiences as teacher and learner. In her growing-up years, her
parents focused on language, the arts, and creative expression. Past
working experiences range from secretarial slavery to the demands of a
doctorate in children's literature and years of college teaching. Carolyn weaves together many media to capture the idea, the dream, the poem. She has honed her performance skills in puppeteering and storytelling since the early 70's. She was a long-time member of National Puppeteers of America, during which time she ran workshops, performed in a variety of venues throughout the East Coast, and directed Puppet Partners, a student troupe in Raleigh, North Carolina. Currently, Carolyn is an active member of Tell Tale Hearts Storytelling Theater in Richmond, Virginia. Her first book, Out of Darkness, a collection of poems, will be available from AuthorHouse in late fall. In ceramics, Carolyn trained with Ron Meyers (University of Georgia), and Randy Edmondson (Longwood University). For the last two years, Carolyn has been working at Richmond Pottery under the mentorship of Jonnie Kinney. |
