Back to Carolyn as Artist/Main

My work as a ceramic artist began in my childhood.  I remember vividly going to a small stream behind out neighbor's home where I discovered a supply of natural clay.  After scooping up the treasured material, my sister and I would create small bowls, cups and saucers, and plates.  These would be dried in the sun and then painted meticulously.

Then, many years later, I met and and fell in love with a sculptor whose primary medium at the time was clay.  The connection with the man changed and disappeared, but the love of clay remained.  Now, this connection to clay is all my own.

I have worked with several mentors:  Ron Meyers at the University of Georgia; Ron Edmonston at Longwood College; Jonnie Kinney (formerly of Richmond Pottery);
and Tim Robinson, painter, colleague at Art Works.
