RESPONDING TO LITERATURE
Questions to consider

As you structure your narrative, you may want to consider questions within the
following areas:  (not rules, but guidelines...)
(1) personal:
Possible questions might include: How did this book make me feel?
What kept me reading this book? What effect did this book have on me as a  reader?
What was my favorite aspects of this writing?
(2) analytical:
Responding to the book's literary elements.
Items to consider are: genre, style, characterization, illustration,
setting, plot, mood, theme, content, format.
(3) interpretive:
Response to the book in terms of its contributions -- social, historical,
political, cultural. What do you think might be the author's purpose/audience?
Remember -- we cannot TRULY know the author's intent.
