Dougal, a shy little bear, found himself left outside after a tea party for the toys.
Thefather of the girl who loved Dougal so very much saw little value in keeping
such a toyand put him in the garbage bin.

Saved from destruction by trash trucks, Dougal developed a friendship with another
toy in the heap, a stuffed bee. After a time, forty-five different toys had gathered together.
The truck driver took them all to his home and they lived a new kind of life, trampolines and all.

Australian publication is evident in certain vocabulary words: ginger-nut biscuits, vegemite
sandwiches, and "bloomin’ heat."

Photographic images of the stuffed toys are presented as photos pasted in an album,
bringing a different kind of reality to this fantastical story.
