READ-A-LOUD TAPE

The power of poetry

You are creating a tape which you can use with your students.  Therefore, you will want to create as clear a sound recording as possible.

1.  Mark the tape cassette container with:
             -POET
             -list of poems read
             -book source(s)
2.  Mark the TAPE with  name of poet
3.  Open the reading by stating the name of the poet
whose work you will be reading.
4.  State clearly the name of EACH poem before beginning.
5.  Before beginning a new poem, always say:
"...the next poem to be read is entitled:  ...."
6.  Read loud enough to be heard but without shouting.
7.  Practice!!
8.  Poetry reading will be evaluated by:
               -clarity of pronunciation
               -avoidance of "sing-song"
-speed (not too fast or too slow)
               -excitement/enthusiasm
-should not have ANY errors (misread words, stumbling etc.)

***You are encouraged to use more than one "voice" when possible!
