Miss Bookworm
by Lorraine Wilson
Miss Bookworm lives for reading
She reads a book a week.
She reads before she comes to school
And before she goes to sleep.
She reads aloud each morning
When we first come inside
Seated on the carpet
Snuggled side by side.
All is hushed and silent
Just her voice we hear.
We go on wondrous journeys
Adventures far and near.
All too soon she's closing
The book upon her knee
And thirty grade 6 children
Face reality.
We love to hear her reading.
She brings the text to life.
She lives the stories with us
She groans, she laughs, she cries.
Now we all live for reading.
We read a book most weeks.
We read before we come to school
And before we go to sleep.
